“L’Italie du Père-Lachaise – Vies extraordinaires des Italiens de France et des Français d’Italie” is an innovative cultural project initiated by COMITES (Comité des Italiens à l’étranger) in partnership with the Consulate General of Italy in Paris. The project has also received the support of the Directorate-General for Italians Abroad and Migration Policies. The aim of this initiative is to pay tribute to and highlight the legacy of sixty prominent Italians or French people of Italian origin, whose graves are in the Père-Lachaise Cemetery.

The cemetery, which is the largest in Paris and one of the most famous in the world, is a veritable open-air history book, containing the graves of many emblematic figures. The project seeks not only to honour these personalities for their contribution to society, whether in the arts, politics, literature or other fields, but also to strengthen the historical and cultural ties that unite France and Italy. By celebrating the lives and achievements of these outstanding figures, this initiative aims to pass on their memory to present and future generations, while highlighting the rich cultural exchanges between the two countries.
