EASYMILE, the French start-up for autonomous vehicles
TERIA is at the centre of innovation in the field of Smart Cities, which are transforming the way we live thanks to advanced technologies. One of the most crucial aspects of these cities of the future is mobility, which is one of the essential pillars of their efficient and sustainable operation.
In this context, EASYMILE, one of our customer partners, is playing a pioneering role. This French company is at the forefront of the mobility field, particularly when it comes to autonomous vehicles.
… Thanks to its expertise and revolutionary approach, EASYMILE is redefining the standards of driverless transport, providing innovative solutions that shake up traditional practices.
Focus on this company which, through its know-how and boldness, is changing the rules of the game in the world of autonomous vehicles.
Autonomous mobility : Getting around without human intervention
In 2014, Gilbert Gagnaire and Philippe Ligier founded a unique start-up in Toulouse, distinguished by its innovative approach to artificial intelligence and robotics. The company, called EASYMILE, quickly established itself as a key player in intelligent transport, developing a number of innovative solutions.
As a French pioneer in autonomous mobility, EASYMILE is redefining traditional concepts of passenger and freight transport. At a time when driverless mobility is shaping up to be one of the major challenges of the coming decades, the start-up is already occupying a prominent place on the international scene thanks to its expertise and innovations.
Since it was founded, EASYMILE has been developing autonomous mobility solutions using vehicles produced by leading industrial partners such as Alstom and Ligier. The latter partnership enabled EASYMILE to reach an important milestone this year with the launch of the third generation of its autonomous shuttles, the EZ10. These vehicles embody EASYMILE’s ongoing commitment to pushing back the boundaries of technology to transform the future of transport.
EZ10 : the 100% electric autonomous vehicle
EASYMILE offers autonomous vehicles designed to meet specific needs. These include theEZ10, an autonomous electric shuttle optimised for intelligent mobility in urban environments. This vehicle has been developed to provide a link between hubs that are often poorly served, offering an innovative transport solution for both public and private sites. The EZ10 stands out for its global deployment, being the most widely deployed autonomous driverless shuttle in the world.
Launched in April 2015, the EZ10 quickly demonstrated its effectiveness in the field with more than 200 successful deployments, carrying 380,000 passengers an impressive 600,000 km in autonomous mode. On 10 June 2019, EASYMILE unveiled the third version of its iconic shuttle, pushing the boundaries of innovation even further. Entirely electric, this new iteration combines futuristic design with an unprecedented passenger experience. The EZ10 is now deployed on public and private roads in more than 25 countries on 4 continents.
Notable deployment locations include the Bois de Vincennes in France, the University of Lausanne in California, USA, and the Botanical Gardens in Singapore, to name but a few.
The TERIA advantage
This autonomous shuttle, capable of carrying up to fifteen passengers, moves smoothly and safely through complex environments with cars, motorbikes, bicycles and pedestrians. Equipped with an array of cutting-edge sensors such as rangefinders, odometers and lidars, it also incorporates TERIA’s advanced navigation and guidance solutions. This technological synergy guarantees precise, safe navigation without the need for additional infrastructure.
Thanks to the permanent availability of the TERIA network, we are an essential partner for autonomous mobility solutions that have to meet extremely stringent safety criteria. Indeed, one of the fundamental aims of this technology is to improve road safety by eliminating human error, while offering transport alternatives in areas where public services are inadequate.
TERIA’s added value lies in its high-quality certification, making us a benchmark in terms of positioning for autonomous vehicles. Among our strategic partnerships, EASYMILE is a long-standing player, but other big names in the sector, such as NAVYA and TRANSDEV, also place their trust in our expertise.
TERIA is also an active member of the GUIDE project, the first European accreditation laboratory dedicated to the certification of navigation systems for autonomous vehicles, helping to establish safety and performance standards at continental level.
The challenges associated with autonomous vehicles are colossal, and TERIA is positioning itself as a key player in this rapidly expanding market.
