Snow & Precision :
A successful 7th edition
On 15 and 16 March, the community of Géomètres-Experts met up for the 7th edition of The French Expert-Surveyors’ Ski Cup, and this time it was in the enchanting setting of the Pyrenees at Font-Romeu that it all took place….
… A meeting that combines a passion for skiing with the adrenalin of competition.
Let’s relive some of the highlights of this event, where training, sport and good humour were the order of the day, bringing professionals together around the same passion.
TRAINING
BEFORE THE COMPETITION
Before hitting the slopes in the Pyrenees, the Géomètres-Experts had the opportunity to perfect their skills during a full day of training.
Divided into two themed half-days, this session gave them the opportunity to explore the latest advances in the Géofoncier tool.
They were also able to study the best practices to be implemented in the field through practical case studies, closely linked to the day-to-day work of each Géomètre-Expert.
Interactive demonstrations and detailed presentations enabled participants to explore the tool’s capabilities in depth, preparing them to optimise it in their future assignments.
This immersive approach enabled participants to consolidate their skills and boost their confidence in applying the theoretical knowledge acquired during the course.
PLACE À LA GLISSE
As in previous years, Expert-Surveyors from all over France came together for a thrilling day on the snowy slopes. As well as just a professional get-together, families were also invited to take part, adding a touch of conviviality to the event.
Over fifty enthusiasts, including surveyors and their families, enthusiastically picked up their race numbers, ready to take on the challenge on the slopes.
Despite a slight drop in attendance this year, mainly due to weather concerns and uncertainties about snow conditions, the competition retained its aura of suspense and excitement.
A FIERCELY CONTESTED COMPETITION
Under glorious skies and perfect conditions, the competitors took to the technical red piste, ready to take on a great slalom. Around twenty gates lined the course, challenging the skill and precision of each skier.
Divided into different categories, the Géomètres-Experts competed in two downhill runs. All levels were represented and each had his or her own objective, which made the downhill even more interesting.
The rankings were based on the best time achieved over the two legs. The downhill races began with the ladies, followed by the children and adults, divided by age group and region.
After two hotly contested runs, Maël Chrétien finally emerged as the fastest skier. This young talent dominated the stopwatches in both heats of the competition.
In terms of the overall ranking, it was the Montpellier region that shone, winning the coveted trophy. Their remarkable performance means that theirname can be inscribed on the emblematic Bell, testifying to their success in this skiing competition.
